Don't do it! You're in it for life, the only way out is for both owners to die, then it can be passed on to your descendants whether they like it or not. Tally up what it would cost for 10 years including all fees, most to be increased over the years. The maintenance fees will shock you. Just room cleaning is $80 now, it used to be no charge. If you join RCI you'll have additional fees and they charge for absolutely every service they provide. When we joined 15 years ago it was a good deal. Now it's impossible to get any time unless you plan up to a year ahead. The really desirable resorts only book up to 13 months ahead and unless you're constantly checking, they fill up so fast we can never get a reservation.
We go B & B now, so much easier, cheaper and you can get an excellent place for what a tenth you'd pay for one year's maintenance fee. And you don't have to plan up to a year in advance.
