That's actually a myth and also a scare tactic that many of these exit/"cancel" companies use. Descendants are not forced to inherit deceased parents' timeshares.

I understand the frustration you have with owning a timeshare and yes, there are many drawbacks to owning one. When deciding whether or not to buy a timeshare (or even acquire one for free), take time to analyze your personal travel needs, budgets, tastes, circumstances, and desires. Take lots of time if needed. There will still be many available for cheap or free months and years down the road. Maybe even rent one to start out with to see if owning a timeshare is for you.

For the majority of people, it would probably not be practical but there are some for whom it would be.
