A calm peaceful place to spend a week. Awesome access to the ocean and overall, good people seem to stay here. While not the fanciest, if you want beach time with the family, there is no better in the Outer Banks.

Wonderful location. the resort has sound front and ocean front. the unit is halfway between. Near the heated pool and hot tub. Work out room and tennis courts. shopping near by. If you like 4 wheeling on the beach, beach access for driving on the beach is about 10 minutes away. there is a large dock on the sound for fishing and crabbing.

Ocean Pines is a small resort wonderfully positioned close to restaurants and shops. This unit is oceanfront; enjoy your morning coffee on the deck and take in the captivating sunsets in the evening. Pure relaxation! The unit provides plenty of space for six with a well equipped kitchen, dining area and counter space. The bedrooms are a split floorplan offering privacy. The beach is never crowded. The resort is quiet and the perfect get-away.

Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. Not fancy but clean and comfortable. 2nd floor beachfront units have a beautiful view of the beach and the area (Duck) is loaded with great little shops, and places to eat. Love it!

Perfect location halfway between Duck and Corolla. Quick trip to Kitty Hawk and most of the lighthouses on OBX. The staff is friendly and quick to respond to all calls. Benefit of having an indoor pool for a rainy day.

Just wanted to let everyone know this resort has been updated which started in 2014 through 2016. I have not stayed there since, but I did go down and see the progress and checked the inside out since I am an owner who had an assessment fee to pay for 3 years. The 2003 reviews are quite old; so take them with a grain of salt. Check it out yourself!

This is a quaint area. It is not a huge resort and it is very quiet and tucked back in a bit.

First... the photo on this website is NOT Ocean Pines. We stayed in a top floor condo right on the beach (building A). Our balcony was yards from the ocean. The unit was clean and very nice although the laundry was on the ground floor. The pool is in a detached building and has a hot tub, There are barbeque grills, small play ground, tennis courts nice grounds and more. Most buildings are not on the beach front but close, 1 building is sound side with a pier. Building A is directly facing the beach with a GREAT view of the ocean and super sun rises!

Note: the pictures on the resort page are NOT of Barrier Island Station-Ocean Pines...they appear to be of a sister resort where you check in, Barrier Island Station-Duck. The follwing two reviews also appear to be of Barrier Island Station-Duck.

Ocean Pines is an older set of condos N of Duck. 7condos with 4-5 rental units each. Unit A is ocean side, unit B is sound side, units C-G ar in the middle w/ no appreciable views. Resort is in good condition, indoor pool is a bit broken down, tennis court needs new net. Beach is wide & clean.

Staff were efficient if not particularly friendly.

Our unit (F-3) was clean, furnishings fair to used, kitchen had enough equipment to cook with but barely.

I found that the written descriptions of Ocean Pines did not have enough detail, what was there was accurate but this resort is much lower in quality and amenities than its sister resorts.

Family friendly? No children's pool, no outdoor pool, playground inadequate, no cribs, no highchair, no VCR, no remote, very small radio-cassette player. I wouldn't return. I like Duck/Corolla better than Kill Devil, etc. but the amenities were less than what we expected.

A beautiful, gated, secure community designed with the family in mind. Trams that run on a regular schedule make access to the beach and outdoor pool easy for everyone, regardless of unit location. The indoor pool and exercise/spa facility is centrally located and wonderful for those "too hot" days or inclement weather situations that would normally infringe on your vacation time at the beach when you rent or buy a house. The lock out concept (A/B Sides) has allowed us to spend a week at Barrier Island and a week at another resort in a different part of the country or world, every year. We have owned at Barrier Island for 13 years and have always been extremely satisfied with our home resort and our exchanges. A great place for the kids, young or old.

This is an older resort but is right on the ocean. A nice place to go during the summer but NOTHING to due in the off season. The outdoor pool is nice and new, the indoor pool could use a little work. The unit size was nice and a lot of deck space.
